HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 21
(By Delegates Walters and Warner)
Requesting the Division of Highways to increase the speed limit
on all Interstate highways to seventy miles per hour and all
state four-lane highways to sixty-five miles per hour.
Whereas,
Federal law now allows states to set their own speed
limits on controlled access highways; and
Whereas, Many of the state's controlled access highways go
through sparsely populated areas so that higher speed limits
would be safe; and
Whereas, Higher speed limits would bring the far-flung
reaches of the state closer together; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Department of Highways is hereby requested to
increase the speed limit on all interstate highways to seventy
miles per hour and all state four-lane highways to sixty-five
miles per hour; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk forward a copy of this
resolution to the Commissioner of Highways and the Secretary of
Transportation.
